Common questions

How long until search finds a new synonym?

The app tags products within seconds. Shopify then has to reindex each product before search sees the change, and that can take anywhere from a few minutes to about 90 minutes. If a synonym does not work yet, wait an hour and search again.

Will customers see the _syn- tags?

Shopify's own Dawn and Horizon themes do not display product tags on product, collection or search pages, so shoppers will not see them there. Some other themes do show tags, and a product tag filter you set up in Search and Discovery can list them as filter options. If you use either, check one product page and your filters after your first sync.

Can I import the synonyms I had in Search and Discovery?

Yes. Paste your list into the app, one group per line, with the words in each group separated by commas.

Does it work in the search dropdown?

Yes. Shopify searches product tags in both the search results page and the predictive search dropdown, including on headless storefronts that use the Storefront API.

How do I remove everything?

In the app, click "Remove all synonym tags", wait for the sync to finish, then uninstall.
